Dr. Sevasti Karaliota
Dr. Sevati Karaliota graduated from the Department of Chemistry, University of Athens, Greece. She received her Master in Biochemistry (2004) and her Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) (2009) in Chemistry from the same university. She has also received a bachelor diploma in Dietetics & Nutrition Science (2010) form the Harokopio University, Athens, Greece. She has served as a postdoctoral Fellow (2011-2017) at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens, Athens, Greece. She has also worked as a Scientist I (O1 Visa holder) at the Vaccine Branch,Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI/NIH), Frederick, MD, USA. Dr. Karaliota has a strong background in immunology, (immuno)metabolism and cancer metabolism, as well as she is an expert in Flow Cytometry (FC), Cell Sorting techniques and Seahorse assay. Her research includes the development of new assays in order to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of IL-15 immunotherapy (alone or in combination with other therapeutic approaches) in murine breast and pancreatic cancer models. In the course of her postdoctoral training, she has been advancing her strong interest in development and application for mechanistic disease studies and preclinical drug assessment of multiple predictive murine cancer models, including variety of genetically and biologically engineered experimental systems. Dr. Karaliota is member of several professional societies, including the AACR, ICIS, Obesity Society and Hellenic Cytometry Society. She has published 12 scientific papers

Ioannis Liapis
My name is Liapis Ioannis, and I am a postgraduate student at the University of Crete, Faculty of Medicine.
Thanks to my, so far, experience in medicine, I have chosen to follow the career path of a Surgeon Oncologist, after my graduation from medical school. The subject of Oncology attracts me because, in my opinion, is one of the few subjects in medicine where the clinical practise and the basic scientific research are highly dependent on one another.
Concerning my personal scientific interests, those are the basic research and study of the molecular, genetic and immunologic aspects of cancer and, furthermore, the application of this knowledge, in order to optimize the perioperative care of Oncologic patients
